Family Apartments in Almaty

Our main guests are families and large groups, and around 70% of everyone who stays with us comes from abroad. We started with small flats and moved to bigger ones once it became clear how many guests travel with children. Many families come back or recommend us to relatives, and in summer we host a lot of families from Arab countries, as well as guests from China, India and across Kazakhstan. So when you ask us about a flat, we talk about bedrooms and beds before square metres. Most of the apartments are in the upper part of Almaty, the side of the city that rises towards the mountains, close to MEGA Alma-Ata and set in residential complexes with closed, guarded courtyards. When a family arrives from abroad, the owner often meets them in person and shows the nearest shops, pharmacies and everything else nearby.

Our two-bedroom flat is 75 m². Local listings call this layout a euro three-room, because the kitchen and the living room share one space. It has two separate bedrooms, three double beds and a sofa bed, plus a big kitchen-living room where the family ends up spending its evenings. It suits parents with children or two couples travelling together.

When two families travel together, a 3 bedroom apartment in Almaty makes more sense. Ours are 120–125 m², with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and they take up to ten guests. The second bathroom saves a lot of waiting in the morning. Every extra sleeping place is a real bed, already standing in the room, and a sofa bed is an addition, never a substitute. A typical arrangement puts two double beds in one bedroom, so parents sleep with the younger children while older brothers and sisters share the next room. In the upper part of the city, the complexes where our apartments are have closed, guarded courtyards with no cars inside, plus playgrounds and sports areas, and gazebos in some of them, so children have room to play right by the building. MEGA Alma-Ata is about five minutes on foot from most of the apartments, and a supermarket sits either inside the complex or a minute's walk away. Some complexes have their own parking, which we provide free of charge, and where there is none we help find a space nearby.

Every kitchen has an oven, a hob, a microwave and proper pots and pans, and the larger flats add a dishwasher, a big dining table and several air conditioners. That makes them practical apartments for families in Almaty who would rather cook at home than eat out every night. Before booking, keep in mind that the apartments are for quiet stays, with no parties and no smoking inside, and that summer is high season, so it pays to secure family dates early.
